According to equation of conservation of momentum.

(20)2(10)2=30V

400100=30V

300=30V

V=30030

V=10

From conservation of the energy.
12[20×(20)2+10×102]=H+12[30×(10)2]

12[8000+1000]=H+12(3000)

9000230002=H

H=60002

H = 3000 J

H = 3 KJ

So,
the thermal energy developed in the process is 3 KJ.
