Two boats approach a light house in mid-sea from opposite direction. The angle of elevation of the top of the lighthouse from two boats is 30 and 45respectively. If the distance between two boats is 100m, find the height of the light house.

In ADC,tan30o=13=DCAD
13=DCx
x3=DC(1)
In BDC,tan45o=1DCBD
1=DC100x
100xDC(2)
Equation (1) & (2)
100x=x3
1003=x3=x
1003=x(3+1)
10033+1=x
Then Height of house =DC=10010033+1=36.60m
