Two bodies, A and B of equal mass are kept at heights 20 m and 30 m respectively. Calculate the ratio of their potential energies.
2:3
Let ‘ m’ be the mass of the body A or B and g be the acceleration due to gravity. Then:
Potential energy of A = m x g x 20
Potential energy of B = m x g x 30
The ratio of these potential energies = m x g x 20: m x g x 30
= 20 : 30
= 2 : 3.
