The correct option is B 40%
Both the masses will more with equal magnitude of acceleration in opposite direction.


Applying 3rd equation of motion:

S=ut+12at2

(u=0; S=50 m; t=5 sec)

50=12 × a × 25

a=10025=4 m/s2

Let m1>m2, thus net pulling force on system of m1 and m2 is (m1gm2g).

a=Fnetmsystem=(m1m2)gm1+m2

4=m1m2m1+m2×10

Thus, m1m2m1+m2=410=25

Therefore, % of mass transferred from m2 to m1 will be given by,

% mass transferred =(m1m2)m1+m2 × 100 =25×100=40%

Hence correct option is (b).
