Two boys push a car of mass 1000 kg at a uniform velocity along a level road. The same car can be pushed by three boys to produce an acceleration of 0.5 ms−2.. With what force does the person push the car? ( The effort with which the boys pushed the car was the same)
500 N
As two persons can make the motorcar to move with uniform velocity, it is clear that total force applied by them on the motorcar is balanced by the force of friction acting in the opposite direction. It is force of one more person which produces an acceleration of 0.2 ms−2.
Force of one person = Mass × Acceleration = 1000 × 0.5 = 500 N
