The correct option is B 2.0 W
Given : R=0.5Ωr=1ΩE=2 volts
For maximum heat to be produced, req=R
∴req=0.5Ω
This can be possible when the two cells are connected in parallel.
Thus equivalent emf of two cell in parallel connection Eeq=E=2 volts
∴ Maximum power produced Pmax=E2eq4R=224×0.5=2.0 watts
