Solution

The correct option is C

A time interval of 5 minutes can be measured by both A and B.

Clock A has only a minute hand, and an hour hand. Whereas. clock B has an hour hand, minute hand, and second hand.

Consider measuring 30 seconds

  1. Since clock B has a second hand, 30 seconds can easily be measured using clock B.
  2. Clock A does not have any second hand, so times in seconds cannot be measured by it.
  3. Hence, option (A) is incorrect.
  4. Again, option (B) is also incorrect.

Consider measuring 5 minutes

  1. Since clock A has a minute hand, 5 minutes can be measured by using clock A.
  2. Again, clock B has all three hands, and hence, 5 minutes also can be measured by using clock B.
  3. Hence, option (C) is correct.

Consider measuring 4 minutes 10 seconds

  1. Since clock B has all three hands, 4 minutes 10 seconds can easily be measured using clock B.
  2. Clock A has a minute hand, so 4 minutes can be measured by clock A.
  3. But, clock A does not have a second hand, so 10 seconds cannot be measured by it.
  4. Hence, option (D) is incorrect.

Hence, option (c) is the correct answer.
