The resultant intensity at a point due to superposition of waves is given by,

IR=I1+I2+2I1I2 cosϕ

For maxima, cosϕ=1, so that,
Imax=I1+I2+2I1I2
=I+4I+2I×4I
Imax=9I

Similarly, for minima, cosϕ=1

And, Imax=I1+I22I1I2
