Two concave mirrors are placed 40 cm apart and are facing each other. A point object lies between them at a distance 12 cm from the mirror M1. Find the location of the final image formed after two reflections, first at M1 and second at M2.

The correct option is A 607 cm left of M2
For first reflection at mirror M1,
u=12 cm
f=10 cm
[as per sign convention]
So, 1v+1u=1f
1v112=110
1v=160
v=60 cm
This first image will act as the virtual object for the mirror M2.
For second reflection at mirror M2,
u=+(6040)=+20 cm
f=15 cm
So, 1v+1u=1f
1v+120=115
1v=35300
v=607 cm
Thus, the final image is formed at 607 cm left of M2.
