The correct option is A−20cm, diverging
Given,
focal length of lens 1, f1=20cm
focal length of lens 2, f2=20cm
distance between the lens, d=60cm
We can replace the lenses by an equivalent lens having focal length f given by 1f=1f1+1f2−df1f2
Substituting the given data we get,
1f=120+120−60400
∴f=−20cm
Since, focal length is negative, we can say that equivalent lens behaves as a diverging lens.
