Question

Two cubes A and B are in series. Radius of A is r and that of B is 2r. If water flows through A with velocity v. Find the velocity of water through B.

Open in App
Solution

If the two pipes are in series, then the discharge that is amount of water flowing per second will be the same
and that discharge is = area×velocity
that is area×velocity is constant
so if the area doubles then the velocity becomes half
here the radius is doubled
so area becomes 4 times than A
so the velocity is 4 times decrease
that is velocity throgh b is v/4
