Let α be the common root.
Then, α2+aα+2=α2+2α+a=0
2αaα=2a
α(2a)=2a
α=1
Therefore, the other root of f(x)=0 is 2.
f(x)=(x1)(x2)=x23x+2
a=3
g(x)=x2+2x3

Now, f(x)+g(x)=0
2x2x1=0
Sum of the roots =12
