Two gases occupy two containers A and B. The gas in A of volume 0.11m3 exerts a pressure of 1.38 MPa. The gas in B of volume 0.16m3 exerts a pressure of 0.69 MPa. Two containers are united by a tube of negligible volume and the gases are allowed to intermingle. What is the final pressure in the container if the temperature remains constant ?

The correct option is B 0.97MPa
Since after mixing, the pressure will be same throughout,

Also, PAVA=nART

and PBVB=nBRT

P(VA+VB)=(nA+nB)RT=PAVA+PBVB

Thus, P=PAVA+PAVAVA+VB

P=1.38(0.11)+0.69(0.16)0.11+0.16MPa=0.97MPa

Answer is 0.97MPa
