Question

Two gases that are lighter than air?

Open in App
Solution

The lighter gas is also known as lifting gas. Gas is lighter than air when the molecular weight of that gas is less than that of nitrogen ( because nitrogen is present in the maximum amount which is 78%). Therefore hydrogen and helium are the most commonly used gases which are said to be lift gases because the molecular weight of hydrogen and helium is less than the molecular weight of nitrogen.
