Two group of people went on holiday. First group hired a taxi and paid rupee five hundred each. In the second group,there are four more people than the first group and each of them paid rupee hundred less less than the first group. If total expenditure of both the group is rupee 7000,find the total number of people who went on the holiday.

Let the number of people in Ist group be xExpenditure of group I=500xNumber of people in IInd group be x+4Expenditure of group II=400x+4Acc. to question,500x+400x+4=7000500x+400x+1600=7000900x=7000-1600x=5400900x=6number of people in Ist group=6number of people in II group=6+4=10Total number of people went on the holiday=6+10=16
