Consider the above figure. It is a cuboid. We can see that there are two lines shown one is passing through HG and another is from AB. If we bring these two lines in the same plane then they are at right angle. But here they are not coplanar meaning they do not lie in the same plane. You cannot find any one plane which will contain both the lines completely. Since they are not coplanar being at right angle also they never intersect. Which is something valid only for parallel lines in 2D. In 2D only parallel lines never intersect, others do.
But in 3D some lines are neither parallel nor intersecting. These lines are called skew lines.
Skew lines are the lines in three dimensional space which are not parallel and never intersect. These lines do not lie in the same plane.
