Two liquids X and Y form an ideal solution. At 300 K, vapour pressure of the solution containing 1 mol of X and 3 mol of Y is 550 mm of Hg. At the same temp, if 1 mole of Y is further added to this solution, vapour prossure of the solution increases by 10 mm Hg. Vapour pressure of X and Y in their pure state will be, respectively:

Ptotal=[PAxA+PBxB]550=PA×14+PB×34PA+3PB=550×4
In second case

Subtract (i) from (ii)
