The correct option is D Torque on wire AB is anticlockwise
Consider two elements PQ and RS at equal distance point O. Magnetic field at PQ due to i₂ is perpendicular to paper outwards and at RS perpendicular to paper inwards. Therefore magnetic force on these elements will be in the directions shown in figure. Hence, net force on wire AB will be zero but it will have an anticlockwise torque.
