Two masses 5 kg and 10 kg are placed at some distance. If 5 kg is moved towards left by 2 m and 10 kg is moved towards right by 3 m. Find the distance by which the center of mass will shift.

dxc.m=m1dx1+m2dx2m1+m2
m1=5 kg dx1=2 m
m2=10 kg dx2=+3 m

Now,
dxc.m=5×(2)+10(3)5+10

=10+3015
dxc.m=2015=+1.33 m

(+ve means Right side)
