Let the first number be x then the other number will be 5x because it is given that the ratio of the numbers is 1:5.

Also, the sum of the numbers is 36 that is:

x+5x=366x=36x=366x=6

Therefore, the first number is x=6 and the other number will be 5x=5×6=30.

Hence, the larger number is 30.
