Two numbers are in the ratio 2:5. If the difference of the two numbers is 27, find the numbers.

Let the numbers be x and y $x>y$

then, $x-y=27$ then, other number $=x+27.$

$\therefore y=x+27.$

Ratio $=2:5$ $\therefore \frac{2}{5}=\frac{x}{x+27}$

$2x+54=5x$

$3x=54$

$x=18$

One number = 18, other number = x + 27 = 18 + 27 = 45
