Let the two numbers be $3 x$ and $7 x$

If 6 is added to both numbers

$\frac{3 x + 6}{7 x + 6} = \frac{5}{9}$

By cross multiplication

$27 x + 54 = 35 x + 30$
$⟹ 8 x = 24$
$x = 3$

The numbers are
$3 \times 3 = 9$

$7 \times 3 = 21$
