Solution

Let the numbers be x and y.
Given, x-y=4 ..... i) and
xy = 192 .... ii)
Now from i)
x= y+4 .... iii)
Putting the values of x in ii)
left parenthesis y plus 4 right parenthesis y equals 192 y squared plus 4 y minus 192 equals 0 y squared plus 16 y minus 12 y minus 192 equals 0 y left parenthesis y plus 16 right parenthesis minus 12 left parenthesis y plus 16 right parenthesis equals 0 left parenthesis y minus 12 right parenthesis left parenthesis y plus 16 right parenthesis equals 0 y equals 12 space o r space minus 16

As it is not mentioned in the question that the number should be positiove or negative so both the vaues y can be considered.
Hence if one of the number is 12 then the other number is 16, and if one number is -16 then the other number is -12.
