The correct option is A

0 ms1


Mass of each object m1=m2=1.5 kg

Initial velocity of first object, v1=2.5 ms1

Initial velocity of second object, v2=2.5 ms1 (since direction is opposite)

Combined mass after collision =m1+m2

= 1.5 + 1.5 kg = 3.0 kg

From the principle of conservation of momentum,

m1v1+m2v2=(m1+m2)v

1.5×2.5+1.5×(2.5)=(3.0)v

0 = 3.0 v

v=0 ms1

That is combined object comes to rest after the collision.
