Monozygotic twins are those twins in which is zygote is fertilized by one sperm and during the cleavage, it gets divided into two separate zygotes. These type of twins are exactly identical.
In case of dizygotic or fraternal twins, there are two zygotes which are fertilized individually by two different sperms.
In monozygotic twins, the sexes will always be the same for both the offsprings but in case of dizygotic twins it may not be the case. One offspring can be a male and other can be a female.
