Magnitude of momentum of combined particles after collision is same as that of individual momentum

before collision. So |P1| = |P2| = |P| = P0(say)

From conservation of linear momentum

P1 = P2 = P

or P = P21 + P22 + 2P1P2 cosθ

or P = P20 + P20 + 2P20 cosθ

or cosθ = 12 or θ = 120
