(i) For A and B to collide, their relative velocity must be directed along the line joining them.Therefore

their relative velocity along the perpendicular to this line must be zero.

vA=v1 cosθ1^i+v1sinθ1^j

vB=v2 cosθ2^i+v2 sinθ2^j

vBA=(v2 cosθ2v1 cosθ1)^i+(v2 sinθ2v1 sinθ1)^j

The y-component must be zero.

Thus v1 sinθ1=v2 sinθ2

(ii) vApp=v1 cosθ1+v2 cosθ2;t=dvapp=dv1 cosθ2+v2 cosθ2
