Two pea plants, one with homozygous round yellow seeds and another with wrinkled green seeds produce F1 progeny that have round, yellow seeds. When F1plants are selfed, the F2 progeny will have a new combination of characters
(recombinants).
Choose the recombinants from the following.
(i) Round, yellow
(ii) Round, green
(iii) Wrinkled, yellow
(iv) Wrinkled, green

Solution

The correct option is B (ii) and (iii)
In dihybrid cross, organisms that differ in two characters are crossed. The dihybrid cross given below is considering the seed colour and seed shape in pea plants.
Yellow colour of seeds is dominant over green colour in pea plants.
Round shape of seed is dominant over the wrinkled shape in pea plants.

Phenotypic ratio: 9 : 3 : 3 : 1
Round yellow: 9
Round green: 3
Wrinkled yellow: 3
Wrinkled green: 1

The new combination in F2 progeny will be offspring showing phenotype other than the parental combinations (round and yellow & wrinkled and green).

Hence, the recombinant progeny will be one with round green and wrinkled yellow seeds.
