The correct option is B unbound
According to conservation of linear momentum:
5M×v0=Mv0+4MV
6M×v0=4MV
V=32v0
V>v0,
so cannot be in circular orbit.
We have two options: a) unbound and b) elliptical orbit
Energy of 4M mass:4MGMer+12×4M×V2
=4MGMer+12×4M×94v20 (asV=32v0)
4Mv20r=4MGMer2
v20=GMer
Now putting v20 and solving energy > 0
Clearly we get unbound.
Answer: 2.
