It follows from figure that charge Q will experience net force in the X-direction if it lies at any point between AB.
Let x be the distance of Q from q2. Then forces exerted on Q by q1 and q2 respectively are
F1=q1Q4πϵ0(0.1+x)2=9×10−6Q4πϵ0(0.1+x)2
and F2=q2Q4πϵ0x2=−1×10−6Q4πϵ0x2
Net force on Q=F1+F2
Net force on Q is zero if F1+F2=0
⇒9×10−6Q4πϵ0(0.1+x)2−1×10−6Q4πϵ0x2=0
⇒9=(0.1+x)2x2
⇒3=0.1+xx (ignore negative sign, as we get negative value of x)
