Two poles of heights 6 in and 11 in stand on a plane ground. If the distance between th,tir feet is 12 m, find the distance between their tops.

Given:
Two poles AD and CE of height 6 m, 11 m respectively.

The distance between the feet of two poles (DC) = 12 m

$AD=BC=6m$

$BE=CE-BC=11-6=5m$

To prove : Find AE

Proof : According to Pythagoras theorem,

$A{E}^2=A{B}^2+B{E}^2$

$A{E}^2={12}^2+5^2=169$

$AE=13$.

∴ Distance between the tops of two poles = 13 m
