Question

What is the cost price price of a T.V. whose selling price after continuous discount of 10% and 20% in ₹ 14,400. Explain

Solution

Let the original price be X

then after 10% discount

the rate is .9X

then given that again 20% is discounted

so the rate becomes

.9X-20% of .9X

that is

.9X-.18X

=.72X

given that .72X=14400

so X=20,000

so the original price=X

and that is =20000

then after 10% discount

the rate is .9X

then given that again 20% is discounted

so the rate becomes

.9X-20% of .9X

that is

.9X-.18X

=.72X

given that .72X=14400

so X=20,000

so the original price=X

and that is =20000
