Question

Two projectiles A and B are projected with same velocity u. They cover the same horizontal range. If A is thrown at an angle 15 degree with the horizontal , what is the angle of projection of B?

Solution

We know the horizontal range is given by; H=2u2gsinθ. cosθIn the given case one of the projectile is thrown with an angle 15°i. e. H=2u2gsin15° cos15°therefore other projectile is projected with angle; ϕ=π2-15° for same horizontal range. Therefore the new horizontal range = H'=2u2gsinπ2-15°.cosπ2-15° H'=2u2gsin15° cos15°Thus H=H'
