Question

Two reactions proceed at 25oC at the same rate; the temperatue coefficient of the rate of the first reaction is 2 and that of the second reaction is 2.5. Find the ratio of rate of these reactions at 95oC.

Open in App
Solution

Temp. coefficient of a reaction in factor by which rate constant gets increased after every rise of 10°C in temperature.
At 25° both the reaction have same rate constants.
At 95°C, for the reaction with rate with temperature coefficient 2 is
K95=K25(952510)×2=14K25
And for the another reaction
K95=K25(952510)×2.5=17.5K25
Hence, the ratio is
14K2517.5K25=2835=45
