Two rods of same weight and equal length have different thickness. They
are held vertically on the surface of sand as shown below. Which one of
them will sink more? Why?

In two rods, which rod has less thickness that rod will sink first. That is thin rod will sink first because it has less surface area so it will exert more pressure on sand than the thicker rod.
