Question

Two similar coils of radius 8cm and number of coils =100 are parallel placed. The distance between their centres is 12cm. If 1A current flows in the same direction in both the coils then calculate the value of magnetic field on the axis right in the middle.

Solution

Radius of each coil R=8cm=8×102m
Number of turns N=100
Magnetic field at mid point the line joining two
B1=B2=B
B=μ0NIR22.(R2+x2)3/2
B=μ0NIR22.(R2+x2)3/2
4π×107×10×1.02×0.10=4π×107×100×1×(8×102)22[(8×102)2+(6×102)2]3/2=4×3.14×64×1092×103=4.02×104T
B1 and B2 are in same direction
Resultant magnetic field
B=B1+B2=2B
B=2×4.02×104
=8.04×104T
