Question

Two similar resistors R are connected in series and than in parallel. Find the ratio of their effective resistance in series to parallel.

Open in App
Solution

When the resistance are R1&R2
they are connected in seriois
Rs=R1+R2
they are connected in parellel
Rp=R1xR2/R1+R2
in these case R1=R2=R
when Rs=R+R=2R
also Rp=RxR/(R+R)
Rp=R/2
ie,Rs/Rp=4
Rs:Rp=1:4
(Rs&Rp are equvalant resistance of resistance connected in serious and parellel respectively)
