Solution

The correct option is D 4

We know that:
n1=n(vv0v)

n2=n(v+v0v)

Given, actual frequency of the sirens, n=330 Hz
velocity of the observer v0=2 m/s
velocity of sound v=330 m/s
Beat frequency = ?

Let consider observer is moving away from siren 1 and towards siren 2.

Hearing frequency of sound emitted by siren 1,
n1=n(vv0v)

n1=330 Hz×(3302330)

n1=328 Hz (i)

Now, Hearing frequency of sound emitted by siren 2,
n2=n(v+v0v)

n2=330 Hz×(330+2330)

n2=332 Hz (ii)

Now,
Beat frequency =n2n1
Beat frequency =332328
Beat frequency =4 Hz

Final answer: (b)
