Velocities of the objects after collision be v1 and v2.
Using v1=(m1−em2)u1+(1+e)m2u2m1+m2
∴v1=(3−1×5)2+(1+1)5(−2)3+5=−3m/s
Also using v2=(m2−em1)u2+(1+e)m1u1m1+m2
∴v2=(5−1×3)(−2)+(1+1)3(2)3+5=+1m/s
Thus speed of the objects after collision is 3m/s and and 1m/s respectively.
