The discs are set in motion with initial velocities v1 and v2 whose directions are mutually perpendicular and lie in a horizontal plane. Total kinetic energy in center of mass frame is
~T=12μ|v1v2|,
As v1v2
Thus ~T=12m1m2m1+m2(v21+v22)
