Question

Two sound waves, in air, have wavelengths in the ratio 1:3. Find the ratio of their frequencies.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given Data

Two sound waves have wavelengths in the ratio = 1:3

We need to find out the ratio of their respective frequencies.

Step 2: Formula used

Frequency(f)=Velocity(v)Wavelength(λ)

As it is clear from the formula frequency and wavelength are reciprocal to each other.

So, the ratio of wavelength is 1:3.

Hence, the ratio of their respective frequencies will be 3:1.
