Solution

When two substances densities P1 and P2 are mixed in equal volume,

Then V x P1+V x P2=(V+V) x 4

or P1 + P2=8-------(i)

When they are mixed in equal masses,

m/P1 +m/P2=(m+m) / (P)

Or P=2 P1x P2 / (P1 +P2)

or 3=2 P1x P2 / 8

Or P1 x P2 =12 ----(ii)

Solving (i) and (ii),we get P1=6 and P2=2
