Two tankers contain 960L of petrol and 2048Lof petrol respectively .Find the maximum capacity of a container which can measure the petrol of either tanker in exact number of times.

Clearly the maximum capacity of the container is the HCF of 960 and 2048 in litres.

let us find the HCF of 960 and 2048 by calculating the factors .

960= 2×2×2×2×2×2×3×5

2048 = 2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2

HCF = 2×2×2×2×2×2

HCF = 64

Therefore, the maximum capacity of a container which can measure the petrol of either tanker in exact number of times = 64 times
