Solution
Around two-third of Earth is covered with water but most of the water (97% of water) present in seas and oceans which is very salty and unfit for consumption.
There is only 3% fresh water available out of which 1% is available from lakes, rivers etc for drinking purposes.
Overusing of water and wasting of it in many cases causes the scarcity of water.
The demand of water is increasing due to increasing population.
