Solution

The correct option is D

-4,-7

The explanation for the correct answer.

Step 1: Solve the slope of AD

Let A(h,k),B(5,-1),and C(-2,3) be the vertices of the triangle.

Let O(0,0)be the orthocenter.

AD is perpendicular to the side BC.

Let the slope of AD be mAD.

Slope of BC,mBC=3+1-2-5=-47

Slope of AD,mAD=k-0h-0

=kh

Step 2:

ADBC

So mAD×mBC=-1

kh×-47=-1

4k7h=0(i)BEAC

The slope of BE× slope of AC=-1

So mBE×mAC=-1

Slope of AC=3-k-2-h

-15×3-k-2-h=-1

5hk+13=0.(ii)

Solving(i) and (ii), we get h=-4,k=-7

So the third vertex is (-4,-7).

Hence, option (D) is correct.
