Question

Two vessels are connected by a valve of negligible volume. One container, A has 2.8 g N2 at T K. The other container, B is completely evacuated The container A is heated to T2K, while container B is maintained at T2/3K. Volume of A is half that of B. if the valve is opened, then:

Solution

The correct option is B The weight ratio of N2 in A and B vessels in 1 : 6
Let xx mole of N2 present into vessel IIII and PP is final pressure of N2
P(2V)=xR(T23) and P(V)=(0.1x)RT2

2=x3(0.1x)
x=0.67mole
So,
0.67×28=2.4gN2

IIII has 2.4gN2 and II has 0.4gN2
W1W2=0.42.4=1:6
