Solution

Let 'v' m3 be the volume,
(x+y)6 hours
xk hours
y(k9) hours
Rate of xvkm3/hr
Rate of yv(k9)m3/hr
Rate of (x+y)v6m3/hr
vk+vk9=v6
1k+1k9=16
6(k9+k)=k(k9)
6(2k9)=k29k
12k54=k29k
k221k+54=0
(k18)(k2)=0
k=18,3
x18 or 3 hours
y9 or 6 hours (Not possible)
x=18 hours & y=9 hours.
