Let A and l be the area and length of each wire respectively.
Then equivalent resistance of the wires in series, Req=ρeq2lA(1)
Resistance of wire having resistivity ρ1, R1=ρ1lA(2)
Resistance of wire having resistivity ρ2, R2=ρ2lA(3)
Since the wires are in series their equivalent resistance, Req=R1+R2
Substituting the values from (1), (2) and (3),
ρeq2lA=ρ1lA+ρ2lA
ρeq=ρ1+ρ22
