Types of simple tissues:

Parenchyma:

2. These are living cells.
3. It is found in the outer and inner parts of plant organs.
4. The cells are usually loosely packed with large intercellular spaces
5. It serves as a storage tissue.
6. Stores nutrients and water in stem and roots.

Collenchyma:

1. It contains living cells and has thick corners.
2. Cell walls are thickened and the corners contain deposition of cellulose and pectin,
3. The cells have a distinct nucleus and a presence of dense cytoplasm.
4. It is present below the epidermis in the stems and leaves.
5. It helps in giving mechanical support and flexibility to the cells.

Sclerenchyma:

1. The cells are thick-rigid cell walls that provide support and are lignified.
2. Their tissues are made up of dead cells.
3. There are no intercellular spaces between the cells are found.
4. The cells are long, and narrow, making a plant hard and stiff.
5. Tissues are present in the stem around its vascular bundles in the veins of leaves, and in the hard covering of seeds and nuts.
6. It provides strength to the plant parts.
