Solution

Let the present age of daughter = x yrsLet the present age of mother = y yrsNow, according to first condition :y = 3x ....1AFTER 5 YEARS :daughter's age = x+5 yrsmother's age = y+5 yrsNow, according to second condition :y + 5 = 52x + 52y + 10 = 5x + 252y - 5x = 15 ...2Put the value of y from 1 in 2, we get6x - 5x = 15x = 15Now, from 1, we gety = 3 × 15 = 45So, present age of daughter = 15 yrspresent age of mother = 45 yrs
